DAVE SLACK MUSIC

Dave grew up playing rock-n-roll music on the guitar and electric bass. He got interested in the double bass and jazz while attending college. 

He received a Bachelor of Music(B.M.) and Master of Music(M.M.) degrees from the University of Tennessee while studying jazz and classical music under the direction of Rusty Holloway and Donald Brown.

He has performed or recorded with Donald Brown(Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Donald Byrd), guitarist Charlie Byrd, David "Fathead" Newman, T.S. Monk, pianist Keith Brown, drummer Keith Brown, Peter Turre (drummer for Ray Charles) and guitar virtuoso Andy Wood(Rascal Flats). 

Dave has composed and arranged music for television, the Pellissippi Studio Orchestra and various church ensembles. Some of his work can be heard on Discover ID, ESPN, and The History Channel.  He currently teaches guitar and bass instruction at Pellissippi State Community College and Lee University. 

Dave strives to play what is appropriate for the situation while injecting his humor and creativity into the music. He is currently working on an album of original music.
